Dear Guest!
Welcome to the renewed website of Sörforrás Restaurant!
"One of the greatest pleasures is being a host among cheerful guests with flushed faces from eating and drinking." — Gyula Krúdy
Our restaurant has been operating since 1991 in the prestigious building located at 15 Váci Street. The 105-year-old facade evokes Venetian Gothic style, and the carved Slavonian oak storefront is a historicist creation. Ottó, the cheerful statue at the entrance, is almost a part of Váci Street.
Nearby is Hermes's Fountain, a replica of Giovanni da Bologna's Mercury statue. According to the Greek myth, even the infant Hermes craved some meat. Under the cover of night, he drove away and roasted Apollo's cattle, enjoying a hearty meal. Instead of following Hermes' example, we suggest that our Hungarian and foreign guests visit us.
On our extensive menu, everyone will find dishes to their liking, whether it's an appetizer, main course, or dessert. To accompany your meal, we recommend our foamy Pilsner Urquell, a wide selection of brandies, and award-winning wines from the best Hungarian wine regions.
At Sörforrás, Miklós Németh, Olympic champion, and his university classmates from the 1973 international relations program of Corvinus University (formerly MKKE) gather regularly at the Váci Street restaurant. Among them are former ambassadors, diplomats, journalists, researchers, traders, and foreign relations experts (and also mountaineers, Olympians, winemakers, poets, painters, card players, grandparents) – enjoying good wine, good conversations, and the engaging tales of life experiences.
At the table of memories and tasks – as the "knights" of this old-new friendly circle, who are no longer young but still youthful, have named the venue of their gatherings.
